Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 591 appropriates $243.6 from the general fund to provide increased and expanded services to senior citizens in Chaves County.



Significant Issues



According to the agency, the funds will serve between 300 and 500 additional individuals in Chaves County who are not currently being served due to the lack of funds. The funds will be for the following services:



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



This bill appropriates $243.6 from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 will revert to the general fund.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



The funds would be appropriated to the State Agency on Aging, who in turn would contract with the Eastern New Mexico Area Agency on Aging (ENMAAA). ENMAAA would then contract with Chaves County JOY Centers to administer the services.
