Synopsis of Bill



House Bill 690 appropriates $50.0 from the general fund to the State Agency on Aging to fund respite care services for families of persons with Alzheimer's disease.



Significant Issues



These funds are for increased services. The Aging Network has submitted requests for respite services.



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



This bill appropriates $50.0 from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2000. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 will revert to the general fund.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



According to the Agency, the appropriation would be absorbed into the existing Alzheimer's Respite Program. There is no increase in administration associated with this appropriation.



CONFLICT/DUPLICATION/COMPANIONSHIP/RELATIONSHIP



House Bill 360 duplicates the Aging Network's Legislative Request for Alzheimer's Respite Services (HB 358 and SB 298). In addition, this bill relates to the budget appropriation for the State Agency on Aging found in HB 2 and SB 2.
