Synopsis of Bill



Senate Bill 106 provides for two additional magistrate judges in the Dona Ana district and an additional magistrate judge in the Sierra district. The Dona Ana magistrates will be located in Las Cruces, with two judges regularly riding circuit to Anthony and Hatch. The Sierra magistrates will be located in Truth or Consequences



FISCAL IMPLICATIONS



Senate Bill 106 appropriates $225.0 in recurring general fund.



ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS



The new magistrates will be appointed by the governor beginning July 1, 1999 and will serve until succeeded by magistrates elected in the general election of 2000.
