SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

SB 244 has an emergency clause appropriating $20.0 in general fund for expenditure in FY 99 and

FY 2000 for contractual services in connection with the national wheelchair games. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 2000 shall revert to the general fund.

Significant Issues

The general purpose of SB 244 is to promote recreation for people with disabilities, their family, friends, and the general public.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

According to GCCH, the $20.0 appropriation would flow through the agency to be used for contracting with providers to make the national wheelchair games a reality. Any money not used for this purpose would be reverted at the end of FY 2000.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS

GCCH states that no additional staff will be needed for this project, as the money would be used specifically on contractual services. SB 244 has an emergency clause which allows for the use of the appropriation in the current fiscal year as well as the next fiscal year.
