SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 589 would amend Section 16-2-19, State Park Division Revenues-Source and Disbursement. The bill would require the division to revert any balances to the general fund, at the end of the year.

Significant Issues

The State Parks Division, currently as defined in statute, is a non-reverting agency, which means that any funding not spent at the end of the fiscal year can be deposited in a cash balance account of the division. This bill would require the department to revert that end-of-the-year balances to the treasury.
