Synopsis of SCONC Amendment



The Senate Conservation Committee amendment to SJM37 requires the memorial to be transmitted to the Environment Department and the Department of Game and Fish.



Synopsis of Bill



SJM37 expresses the contributions acequias have made to New Mexico's society and culture, as well as the important role they play in agricultural production. The memorial resolves that water focused executive agencies and the Legislature be requested to appoint members of acequias to any task or study group established to address water issues.

SJM37 is a duplicate of HJM24. SJM37 is also related to HJM23, which sets up an interim committee to study the issuance of direct grants to local water associations.
