A MEMORIAL

EXPRESSING THE CONDOLENCES OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF ALBERT E. UTTON.



WHEREAS, Albert E. Utton died on September 29, 1998; and

WHEREAS, he was born in Aztec; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from the university of New Mexico Phi Beta Kappa in 1953, attended Oxford on a Rhodes scholarship and received his law degree in 1956; and

WHEREAS, he served as assistant staff judge advocate with the United States air force in England; and

WHEREAS, he returned to New Mexico and taught at the school of law for the next four decades; and

WHEREAS, he was renowned for his expertise in water and natural resources law; and

WHEREAS, during his career he served on the interstate stream commission, the state Rhodes scholar selection committee and the Albuquerque labor relations board, receiving numerous awards and recognitions; and

WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife Mary, his children Jennifer and John and two grandsons, his brother Arthur, nephews, nieces, students, colleagues and friends;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that condolences be expressed to the family and friends of Albert E. Utton, a loving and devoted New Mexican; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to Mary Utton.
