AN ACT

RELATING TO CAPITAL EXPENDITURES; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

A. The following amounts are appropriated to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal years 1999 and 2000 for the specified purposes:

(1) two million eight hundred thousand dollars ($2,800,000) to replace state police radios;

(2) one million dollars ($1,000,000) to purchase state police patrol cars; and

(3) ninety-three thousand dollars ($93,000) to purchase and install an FT-IR microscope for the crime laboratory.

B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2000 shall revert to the general fund.

Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
